Getting Your Zing Back

Sometimes in life with work, learning, raising children, and just in general, we can feel like we have a sparkle a little bit dulled. And it might be small things, you might not notice them at first.

Yet, one morning you wake up, and you don’t quite feel the same.

You noticed that day after day you are putting on the same outfit, same shoes; in fact, your routine while comfortable, hasn’t changed in years. You might even find that where once you would wear bright colors and bold prints, that’s just not you anymore.

And with everything going on, your confidence to do such things, to dress how you enjoy dressing, has somehow lessened.

There is a difference between getting your sparkle back and trying to be an old you. Let’s talk about some of the things that you can do to feel refreshed and get your zing back. Routine This might sound strange, but even the most spontaneous and exciting person that you know will benefit mentally from routine. Not everything should be in strict time allotments, much like Hugh Grant in about a boy who lived his life in 15-minute allocations.

There are some things that you should be able to rely on.

The majority of people enjoy structure and routine-even if they say they don’t.

If you are currently between jobs, or have just hit maternity leave, or are taking a break, then the structure can be more difficult. However, you can create it for yourself.

  • Go for a walk at the same time each day.

  • Create a morning routine that involves waking up at the same time and eating at the same time

  • Go to bed every day at the same time apart from a Friday and a Saturday.

Maintenance

When we aren’t feeling our best, it is very easy to let skincare and our haircare regiment slip. Once you let it slide, it won’t be long before you’re suffering from breakouts, dry skin, hyperpigmentation, and you might even notice fine lines and wrinkles.

And these can have a knock effect on the confidence that you were starting to build.

Make sure that you always have a morning routine, something that leaves your skin feeling refreshed and you too.

Here is a sample routine

  • Wake up at 6 am
  • Cleanse, tone, moisturize
  • Exfoliation on a Friday evening
  • Facemasks for Thursdays and Sundays
  • And deep condition hair weekly

You might not feel like doing these when you are in a little bit of a slump come up, but they will help you get your zing back.

Wardrobe overhaul

If you are wearing the same thing day in and day out you’re probably going to get very bored very quickly. And although those clothes probably suit you and make you feel safe, they might not make you feel great.

It’s time to do an inventory of your wardrobe and see what you have and what you need. If you’ve got plenty of clothes that don’t fit for one reason or another, it’s time to say goodbye. Only have things in your wardrobe that you truly love to wear. And it’s always great to have a few items of women’s elegant wear just for those days that you feel a little bit spicy.

Hobbies

When we learn a new skill, our brains get very, very happy. Like all of the other muscles in the body the brain wants and needs to be flexed and worked. This can have a ward of boredom, depression, stress, anxiety. And when you learn something, you feel like you understand and have knowledge in a specific area. Those things can really build your confidence.

And well, you might be tempted to say watching Netflix is a hobby; slouching on the couch isn’t going to give you the huge perk that learning a new skill will.

Here are some super fun hobbies that have been hailed as the best ones for improving happiness.

Running, we all know the exercise is essential, but it can often feel a little bit daunting to head to the gym and sweat it out. You can run from the comfort of your own home with a running machine, will head out, and run your favorite route. Put in some headphones and get a phone strap, and you can hello and have fun. There are many apps that can set you running challenges.

Yoga is great due to the slow breathing and the concentration of mindfulness. Choosing to move in very specific ways of getting a balance and even grateful core strength. It relaxes and stretches. Yoga is great for people who need to destress.

Writing is one of the most cathartic things that you can do. You can create a blog online or simply use a notebook, whichever you prefer. Whatever you write is in Tiley up to you, and it is a great way for the brain to process emotions and ideas.

All of these hobbies have a theory and method behind them. Things you need to learn in order to do them better. And that makes up mine is very happy indeed.

It is important to give yourself time to find out more about the new you. After all, if it has been some years since you’ve given yourself some serious attention, it could be hard to remember that you are always worth dusting off, picking back up, and getting your zing back.
