Hands up who is feeling full of self-confidence today? If you're the person sat at the back hesitantly wondering whether to put their hands up, then no, you probably aren't. And isn't that true of so many of us? We don't push yourselves to the front to give ourselves recognition. We dither over every decision we have to make. We are afraid to take steps that may appear risky.

Low self-confidence is something many of us have to deal with. Be it a low self-esteem about who we are and what we look like, to the paralyzing fears that prevent us from moving forward. If you're identifying with what we are saying, take comfort in the fact that you're not alone, but you don't have to resign yourself to the way you are thinking and feeling.There are actionable steps you can take to improve your self-confidence, and some of them can even be done today.

Consider the following as examples.


Dress well. It's the simple things that can improve our self-confidence, and sometimes it can be decided on the outfit we wear. While we might still be a jumble of nerves and fears inside, we can at least hide that through the clothing we choose to put on. But when other people start to take us seriously because we are dressed smartly, then we might also start to take ourselves seriously, and grow in confidence as a result.

Stop comparing yourself with others. Especially when it comes to our body image, we can unfavourably compare ourselves to others. Looking at the models in beauty magazines, or the Instagrammed photos of our friends, we decide our bum is too big, our breasts are too small, our skin is too saggy, and our hair doesn't look right. You may have been body shamed by others in your life, but let's face it, sometimes you body shame yourself. If improving your body will improve your self-confidence, be it through a breast augmentation or a detox diet, then so be it. But otherwise, be proud of your body. You don't have to look like everybody else, and besides, many of the photos of the models you see have been airbrushed anyway, so they are not what you would call authentic.

Practice positive self-talk. Following on from the above, sometimes, we are our own worst enemy. We hurt ourselves with negative thoughts - "I'm useless," "I'm not pretty enough," "other people are better than me," blah blah blah. Stop it! Stop damaging your self-esteem with this negative way of thinking. Instead, practice positive self-talk. Flatter yourself on the best parts of your body. Focus on your life's achievements. Give yourself some credit, instead of thinking the worst about yourself all the time.

Give yourself some me-time. Our low self-confidence often comes from being around others. If we're not comparing ourselves to them, then we are letting their words and actions define who we are, instead of being ourselves. Get away from it all for a while. Find a place where you can focus on who you are, so you can build up your self-confidence away from the influence of others. Write a journal, focussing on the positive things in your life. Give yourself some purposeful pampering, taking time to flatter your mind and body. Do those things that you do well, so you aren't in a position where you are almost guaranteed to fail. Whatever you do in your me-time, make it a positive experience for you, where you can build your self-confidence instead of being in a place where it might falter.

Ditch the people who hurt you. You can't escape everybody who hurts your feelings and who lowers your self-confidence. But there may be people in your life that you don't have to see very often, or that you can ditch completely. This includes those so-called friends who put you down rather than lift you up. They aren't really friends at all if they do or say things that hurt you. And this applies to anybody on your social media networks, who knowingly or unknowingly have a negative effect on your life. Get rid of them, tell them where to stick their hurtful words, and block them from your life. And then concentrate on the next step.

Believe

Be with the people who are good for you. There should be people in your life who make you feel good about yourself. These are the people who make you laugh. These are the people who listen and help you when you're feeling down. And these are the people who lift you up and help you get perspective when you're hard on yourself. These are the people you need to be with, and not the naysayers, gossipmongers, and critical assholes that really deserve no place in your life. Positive people will influence you the right way, so if you don't have enough of them in your life right now, seek them out. Join new groups, begin new hobbies, and find the people who can help you be yourself, rather than hanging out with those people who twist you up with their negative attitudes towards you.

Do something courageous. If you have any fears in your life, you are never going to overcome them by shielding yourself away from them. Sometimes, you have to confront them. And by doing so, you will both overcome the fear you had and benefit from renewed self-confidence because you dared to be brave and courageous. We don't know how this applies to your life today but think about the way your fears are holding you back, and do your best to pluck up the courage. These tips may help you to do it.

Courage

Empower yourself. Why are you lacking in confidence? If you are struggling at work, learn the skills you need to do your job, or start to look for another job that is more in tune with you. If you are terrified of public speaking, practice using this useful guide to help you. If you never know what to say at parties or social gatherings, increase your knowledge, and learn some interesting facts, so you have something worth saying. As someone who had to resort to corrective surgery due to Chronic Sinusitis, I can identify with the apprehension to surgery since I was very apprehensive about the overall process prior to having it. I was concerned about whether or not it would actually work, if it would alter my nose and face in any way, and whether or not it was safe. I did not know what to expect since I had never had surgery before. Years later, I no longer suffer from heavy snoring and breathing restrictions. Although I still have minor congestion and excess mucus, they are less severe than they were prior to surgery. Additionally, the surgery did not alter my facial appearance. Unlike cosmetic surgery, these surgeries are intended to relieve and/or correct a condition therefore it is not necessary to fear that your appearance will be altered. Here are some types of these corrective surgeries.

Endoscopic sinus surgery- Procedure in which doctors look at sinus passages to identify the source of the obstruction and then use instruments to remove tissue or shave away polyp that is causing nasal blockage.
Balloon Sinuplasty- Process in which mucus is drained from the blocked sinus in order to restore normal sinus drainage.
Turbinate Reduction- Procedures in which all or part of the lower turbinate is removed, or the position of the turbinate is changed, or the turbinate tissue is shrunk through the use of a thin probe placed into the nose.
Septoplasty- Procedure in which the crooked nasal septum is straightened and repositioned in order to reduce symptoms such as breathing difficulties.

The vast majority of the time, especially when you're younger, is that you will require reading glasses. But, with a lot of eyesight issues, we can actually try to fix them ourselves. This isn't the case, and in fact, you can actually exercise too much, and put yourself in a physical deficit. We seem to have the opinion that we have to rely on walking sticks after a certain time in our lives, but this isn't the case. The fact is that muscle is something that can regenerate itself if we give it the right nutrients and stimulus. A lot of people who have suffered accidents have been able to rebuild their strength with resistance exercises and weight training. The important thing to know is what is best for you. Generally, weight training is a very good way for us to keep our strength up, but we need to supplement it with the right nutrition. As we get older, calcium is drawn out of our bones, so, we need to ensure that we are taking the best supplements possible to combat any physical deterioration. We have to accept that physical deterioration is part of getting older; we don't need to think that as soon as we turned 60, we're going to need a wheelchair to get around!

 That Existential Dread 

There are milestones in our lives where we are reminded of our own mortality. Maybe friends pass away, or we lose loved ones, and this can result in an existential crisis of sorts. But it's important to gain a sense of clarity, but this is something that we can't do without gaining life experience. The best defense in this respect is to find ways to reduce our own stress. There are so many different ways for us to recognize how we are feeling anxious, but it's a part of life that we feel concerned about getting older. But we view getting older as a negative thing; because it seems that we are in a permanent state of decline. Yes, we are, but are we going to spend the rest of our lives worrying about it, or are we going to embrace this, and use the things that we actually develop as we get older, such as our intelligence? It is a part of getting older, and maybe we end up going to more funerals and weddings, and everyone around us is getting pregnant, but we all feel that as we get older, that our life is slowly beginning to tick away. It's a big cliché, but it's all about being in the moment, and embracing what we have now. Our life is what we make it. There are people that we know who are constantly in a negative frame of mind, and then there are others who are totally positive, and we can take one of two options, so which one is it going to be? Getting older is inevitable, but we need to reframe our own attitudes towards it. Yes, there are numerous signs we are getting older, such as our physical decline, mental health issues, and being worried about the fact we're getting older, but, life is what you make it. So maybe it's not worth focusing on those couple of wrinkles, and actually burrowing deep into ourselves to think about what is actually important in life.

You can easily find these women on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Just do a simple web search or use hashtags to find communities. Once you figure out the communities that work best for you, engage with them by commenting on their posts and sharing your own as well. Once you connect with these different communities online, know that some of them host several conferences, meetups and gatherings that allow you to meet many of these ladies in person.

 3. Begin volunteering with Christian organizations. One of the major components of Christianity is service. Your service to your community is a Biblical mandate. Whether you are working in the mission field, ministering to those in prison or feeding the hungry, it's important to actively engage in service acts. Find organizations with people who believe in active service. Whether you serve once a week or once a month, make sure that this is something you cultivate. When you cultivate this attitude of service, you'll be able to meet people who have the same mindset. You'll be able to serve alongside them and encourage one another along the way.

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing fine today. Today I'm re sharing a post I wrote as a guest blogger from "Fancy Your Aura. It's about maintaining a happy relationship.

We love love, but every relationship have their problems. There's no such thing as a perfect relationship in this world, but we can do things to rekindle the happiness. As you know in the beginning you have those butterflies in your tummy and your heart is so filled with love for the partner you are with. You two go out on romantic dates, hold hands, kiss and whisper sweet nothings and I love you's, but as times goes by a year passes then many years. The stress of work, paying bills really starts to take a toll on the relationship and you start to question it. In this post I will give you some tips to keep love and happiness alive.
1. Communication is key!

If there is no communication between the two ever then the relationship will fall apart fast. Communicating your problems with each is a start. Be open and don't hold back what's going on in your heart. When you speak your concerns don't shout at your partner be stern and gentle. Shouting only will fuel the conversation and lead it into another direction you don't want to go. Show some love by placing your hand on their hand and start to speak. This will show them you really care and want to get things solved.

2. Alone Time

We are allowed to have time for ourselves from our partners. Let's face it being around them 24/7 without a break will get boring so if you want alone time talk it out on the day you want to spend time with your friends or even by yourself. Go to that cool movie you always wanted to see, have lunch or dinner with a family member. For me personally I would go spend a night with my mother. When you are out call or text your partner to let them know you are thinking about them. Send cute selfies of yourself and the places you are having fun at. Alone time is key to a better relationship and with yourself.

3. Go The Extra Mile

Doing things for your partner shows them you really love them and will do anything for them. I make coffee for my husband every morning while he is asleep and wake him up with a good morning honey and sometimes a smooch on the lips. He loves that and smiles when I bring him his morning coffee. Whatever it is they love try to fulfill it. Cook their favorite meal, bring her flowers and a card, get him his favorite cologne or buy that sexy lingerie he was browsing that he wanted for you.

4. Bring Laughter!

Laughter cures the soul. Being silly with each other is so refreshing. Crack some jokes, tickle their funny spots or watch your favorite comedy movies with them. I love being silly with my husband because he loves being silly also and this keeps the relationship fun and exciting.

5. Play Stranger Role Play

What I mean about this is plan to meet where you first met and role play. In the beginning your eyes locked with each other so you walk over and introduce yourself and offer to by them a drink. Strike up some good conversation like when you both met. You can even role play at home, maybe a superhero lol! or even that sexy Vixen you left in the past. Spicing up your relationship makes your partner want you even more and fall in love with you all over again.

Relationship takes a lot to maintain, but if you really love them you will do what you have to do to make them happy. Whether finances or other thing making a negative impact in your life, talk it out and resolve it. If things can't be mended in your terms pray about it to a higher power because prayer is key.

Addictions are something we are starting to talk about much more commonly today, which is good as almost everyone engages in some form of addictive behaviour - as the majority of addictions are merely coping mechanisms.

We all know someone that’s looking to give up smoking or stop comfort eating in an attempt to lose weight, and similarly, many of us will know people that have sought help in terms of recovery from alcohol and drug abuse.  Today, addictions are much less of a taboo than they once were as many people we look up to, in the world of celebrities, are known for battling addictions with sporadic stints in rehab.

That said, not everyone is able to afford rehab, so in this article we’re going to look at an underlying fundamental principle when it comes to breaking free from an addiction.

The core aspect of any addictive behaviour, and perhaps that’s the first thing to realise - an addiction is a habitual pattern of behaviour that starts to have power over us due to the meaning we attach to it.

It’s a universal truth that nothing in life has meaning, other than the meaning to which we attach to it, thus everything is fundamentally subjective.  Now, for someone that associates smoking with stress relief, for instance, it’s going to be hard to break the pattern of behavior because they associate smoking with something positive - stress relief - so in their mind, the way they are wired to think about smoking is not something that is causing harm, but, something that’s causing pleasure… even though, intellectually they may know it’s bad for them, we are emotional creatures and somewhat subservient to our emotional drives.

In that sense, if you want to stop smoking, you simply need to change the association - stop associating a positive meaning to the activity of putting a cigarette in your mouth, and start associating pain.

If you’ve ever noticed, this is at the core of all positive change, as many times, it’s only when a doctor says the three most dreaded words in our language “you have cancer” that people start to make some lifestyle shifts… and even then, some people will continue to smoke, because they are so attached to the meaning of “smoking equals pleasure or comfort” they choose not to give it up.

That’s the other aspect to this, addictions, whilst they might not feel like it - are a choice - agreed, sometimes addictions can truly play havoc with people’s lives and they don’t feel they are in control, as the addiction takes over, but fundamentally, what a person chooses to do, is a choice.

Therefore, to get someone to make a different choice, you simply need to help them associate pleasure with a more positive habit and pain with the addictive behaviour.  The more pain they associate with the thing they are wanting to change, then the more able they will be to shift the meaning and ultimately break free from the addiction.
