Love Your Body, Love Your Life

Love your body

It sounds silly and it is, but loving your body is hugely important to how you live your life. When you hate your body and how you look, you feel depressed and frustrated most of the time but when you look in the mirror and love what you see, you get an instant confidence boost. When you love your body, you can do anything. The only thing for me at this point is my tummy ugg!, but I don't let that get in the way of wearing some of my favorite clothes. I love my smile and dimples, I love the shape of my eyes, I love my legs and that sexy curve that forms my hips and of course I love my lucious, cute lips.

But this blog isn’t about losing weight or piling on mascara and it’s not even about which foods are going to take more calories to eat than they contain (we all know about celery and it doesn’t make it any more interesting!). This blog is about learning to take care of your body whatever size it is, whatever shape it is and whatever its flaws are.

Test Your Limits

But this blog isn’t about losing weight or piling on mascara and it’s not even about which foods are going to take more calories to eat than they contain (we all know about celery and it doesn’t make it any more interesting!). This blog is about learning to take care of your body whatever size it is, whatever shape it is and whatever its flaws are.

When you are feeling blue about your body, it’s easy to end up in that cycle where you crash out on the couch and eat ice cream and give up. For all that we’ve all been there, this isn’t the best thing to do by any stretch! Instead, you should try different activities.

When you feel like your body is useless, take a bit of time to test it out and see what you can really do. Have a look at some workout ideas from healthandfitnessvitality.com to start with. Pick one and then try doing it for a couple of weeks. Your first go will be dreadful, granted, but as you start to develop those muscles, build your stamina and stretch yourself out, you will notice a significant difference.

Your body will work with you but you have to start working it first.

Smile in the Mirror

Smile in the mirror

Another good way to give yourself a boost is to start smiling in the mirror. It is a natural compulsion for those of us who aren’t models (and especially those who are) to look in the mirror and only see the bad bits. This wobbles, that wrinkles - you know the drill. But this only cements the idea that there is a problem.

Instead, look yourself in the eye and declare ‘I love my body’ and then smile. Weirdly, seeing yourself smile and say positive things is a brilliant way to develop new neural pathways that cement positive ideas. Sure, you might not want to do this with other people around but when you have five minutes alone, look at those wobbles and wrinkles and declare your love for them.

Dress For Yourself

Finally, the real clincher is to dress for yourself and love what you are in. Cut out the clothes labels if you hate looking the number on the tag - this number is entirely meaningless anyway.

Go for the colors that make you feel fabulous and choose cuts that give you room to move. There is nothing that makes us girls feel worse that a waist that is just too tight so take yourself up a size, who’s going to know?

When you are comfortable in your clothes, and comfortable in your skin, you will have a real shot at loving your body and loving your life.
